Celution™ Breast Augmentation

Can fat tissue be used to increase breast size? A revolutionary new technique is now being studied to see if stem cells from fat tissue can be used to enlarge the breasts. The Celution™ technique uses fat tissue from the stomach, thigh, or buttocks. The tissue is extracted using a minor liposuction procedure, then placed into the Celution™ system. The Celution™ system extracts stem cells from the fat. The cells are processed and concentrated, then reinjected into the breast where they are used to grow new breast tissue. The process takes about an hour.

The Celution™ system is currently being tested for breast reconstruction following a partial mastectomy or lumpectomy. There is hope that the Celution™ system will be used for breast augmentation in the future.

Celution™ breast enhancement is still being studied, and has not yet been approved by the FDA for use in the United States. It is expected to be available for breast reconstruction in Europe in 2009.
