During your pre-surgical consultation, your plastic surgeon will answer any remaining questions about your cosmetic surgery procedure, and you will be asked to verify that you understand all of the information by signing a consent form. Before you sign the consent form, make sure you understand what to expect during plastic surgery recovery. If there is something you do not understand, be prepared to ask questions.

  6. Will my activities be limited after plastic surgery? If so, for how long?
  7. When will I be able to return to work?
  8. Will I have stitches or drains that need to be removed? If so, when will that be done?
  9. Do I need a post-surgical compression garment? If so, what type?
  10. When can I shower/bathe?
  11. How long will it be before I can drive?
  12. Is there anything that I can do to minimize cosmetic surgery scars?
  13. Will I need any help after surgery?

The following are questions that you should ask your plastic surgeon about your care during recovery from breast augmentation surgery. Be sure to ask these questions before your breast enhancement procedure:

  1. Will I need ice packs for my breasts?
  2. What type of post-surgical compression bra do I need? How long will I need to wear it?
  3. Should I massage the breasts after breast augmentation surgery? If so, what is the proper breast massage technique?
  4. Is there anything I can do to prevent capsular contracture?
  5. Are the type of breast implants I am getting adjustable if I am not happy with the size?
