
Dr. Kanter graduated first in his class at the Albany Medical College of Union University in Albany, New York. He then obtained his surgical training at Harvard where he was a resident and then appointed Chief Resident in Surgery at the renown Beth Israel Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. He stayed at Harvard for his residency training in Plastic Surgery at the Beth Israel/Deaconess, Cambridge and Boston Children's Hospitals. He was then appointed Chief Resident in Plastic Surgery at this Harvard Medical School affiliated training program.
Dr. William Kanter later helped author a textbook on Cosmetic Eyelid Surgery and was also a co-editor for the book. The extensive and intense research done in creating this book has also been a benefit to his patients.
Dr. Kanter specializes in Cosmetic Plastic Surgery. He has considerable experience and expertise in facelifts, eyelid surgery, plastic surgery of the breasts, including breast augmentation, breast reduction, and reconstruction, liposuction, including Ultrasonic Liposuction, abdominoplasty (tummmy-tuck) and plastic surgery of the nose (rhinoplasty), chin and ears. Laser and other skin rejuvenation procedures, Restylane, Botox and skin care products are also offered as are minimally invasive endoscopic procedures, such as endoscopic browlift surgery.
Dr. Kanter was also the recipient of the Golden Cannula Award from the Lipoplasty Society of North America.
Dr. Kanter has been on the Part Time Clinical Faculty at Johns Hopkins Medical School for over 15 years as a Clinical Instructor in Plastic Surgery.
Dr. Kanter was also elected by his fellow physicians to serve as Vice-President and then President of the Professional Staff of the Howard County General Hospital, a Johns Hopkins Affiliated Hospital.
He is in private practice in Ellicott City, Maryland located between Baltimore and Washington, D.C.
